Abstract:
Come learn about the challenges of using a data-driven approach to build a large, diverse local services marketplace. We’ll discuss how we tackle some hard problems, including: building data-driven models to efficiently connect customers and professionals
understanding when to use human power vs. computing power
a/b testing in a highly connected marketplace
using data to improve how we work together as the team grows quickly

Bio:
Xing joined Thumbtack in April 2015 after spending five years at Google, where he most recently worked on predicting user information needs in Google Now. Prior to Google, Xing worked in quantitative research at Clarium Capital. Xing earned his B.S. in computer science from Stanford in 2007, and is excited to be back on campus!
