Information for the News Media
Dress code for media entering TDCJ units/facilities:
Conservative dress is encouraged for all visitors. Clothing that is tight fitting, revealing, or made with see-through fabrics is not allowed. Sleeveless shirts and dresses are allowed, but must cover the shoulders. Dresses or skirts should be no shorter than three (3) inches above the middle of the knee. It is also preferred that reporters and their crew members not wear white.
Items not allowed on TDCJ units/facilities:
No tobacco products, purses, briefcases, cellular or digital phones, pagers, magazines, packages, or similar items may be carried into the unit/facility.
Other:
A picture identification is required for entrance into a unit/facility.
Individuals determined by TDCJ staff to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol may not be allowed entrance to a unit/facility.
Individuals may be searched with a hand-held metal detector prior to being allowed into a unit/facility.
Nothing may be given to or taken from an offender by the media.

The Polunsky Unit is located at: 12002 FM 350 South, Livingston, TX 77351
If traveling from the North: Take I-45 South to Huntsville; exit US-190 East to the caution light at the intersection of FM 3126. Turn right onto FM 3126. At the next caution light, turn right onto FM 2457. At the Exxon station, turn left on FM 3126. At the stop sign, take a left onto FM 350 and the Polunsky Unit will be on your left.
If traveling from the South: Take US 59 North to Livingston; turn left on US-190 West; turn left onto FM 350.
The Mountain View Unit is located at: 2305 Ransom Road, Gatesville, TX 76528
From Gatesville, take Old School Road north to its intersection with Highway 36. Cross Highway 36 to Ransom Road (FM 215). Unit is on right side of road.
