Career Opportunities

General Information

The California Department of Education (CDE) is part of the state civil service system. As such, a majority of CDE positions are filled with persons who have successfully competed in a civil service examination and are eligible (i.e., reachable) on an employment list for a specific classification.

Lyris

Lyris is an e-mail system to notify members for Examination bulletins currently listed on the CDE Open Examination web page. To join the Examination notification list, send a blank message to join-exam-notification@mlist.cde.ca.gov.

Permanent Appointments

A person interested in long-term permanent employment with the CDE should establish appointment eligibility by participating in an open examination for the classification in which he/she is interested and qualified. Visiting Educator Opportunities
